The Pet Gundog Club - where you'll find practical training and common sense advice...
Back to Basics online training course

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced handler, it's always a good idea to go back to basics; basic heel work, basic whistle work and basic retrieving.

Based on Lez Graham's best-selling training day, this four-week online course, is not only about training the 'gundog' but, just as importantly, is about training the 'pet', helping you to establish harmony at home, enjoyable walks, as well as a motivated, enthusiastic retrieve.

Each week we focus on a new topic allowing you to drill down on an aspect of training your pet gundog and improve your relationship with them, including...
  • Establishing a Leadership protocol
  • Whistle Training
  • Loose Lead Walking
  • Equipment and its use
  • Recall Training
  • The Retrieve
  • Incorporating Play in your Training
  • Canine Psychology
Each course is tailored entirely to your group with Q&A being an integral part of the training process.
Starting on the 16th of May and running until the 13th of June 2023, (6:30 - 7:30pm) with access to training material available until the 30th of June 2023.  Course fee £297.
"Back to Basics came along at just the right
time formy dog (Ruby) and me.

Lez has provided me with a full and clear
explanation of the canine mind meaning I can understand why the training works.

It now makes complete sense and the
impact has been immediate -
after the first session by following
Lez's advice and being consistent
Ruby's lead walking was hugely improved,
but more importantly... I know why!"
"I signed up for Lez's Back to Basics class
having used The Pet Gundog Puppy
as a manual since we got our
5-month-old Springador.

It's been a great opportunity to get
some more context to the teachings
and to reinforce some of the stuff
that we have, and have not
been getting right!

The weekly video accompaniments
have been really useful too."
"Doing the Back to Basics course with
Lez has been the best thing I have done
for myself and my dog in a long time.

It has helped me re-focus on the basic
elements of dog training and behaviour
and has had an instant impact with massive
improvements in loose lead walking
(mostly non-existent before) and
home behaviour.

We are now working on recall and I'm
looking forward to soon having stress-free
and in-control walks with my dog!
Thank you Lez"
